Hi ,Ji ,have you ever seen the film Avanda which came out lastly ?

Not yet .

It is said that it is quite an amazing 3D movie, I hope I could get the chance to see it in the cinema if I have time .

Do not you think it is too expensive?

Are you a movie fan?

Of course, I often go to the movies almost everyday, but just in my dormitory.

So don’t you think it a pity if we couldn’t go and see the film in an advanced cinema, especially such an excellent film like avanda?

Well, anyway, except the expensive tickets I cannot afford ,watching a film in the dormitory could be more relaxing and comfortable .You can move about when where you want and you can eat or drink whatever you like while watching. You can even lie down in bed or sit on the floor. But in a cinema ,you have to sit through a film in a darkened hall among a lot of strangers.

In my opinion , watching a film at a cinema is much more enjoyable. No TV screen can compare with the big screens in cinemas. Watching a film in you

dormitory may be more relaxing but you will miss a lot so far as these are concerned. At the same time ,the darkness and the silence in the cinema can help you concentrate on what is happening on the screen. Doing too many things while watching a film can be distracting. If all you want is to eat and relax, why do you have to do them while watching a film ?\\

by the way ,what type of film do you like ,documentary or feature films ? Romance, action ,science fiction,suspenses or horror?

I like science fiction ones especially produced by the Hollywood.

COURAGE

L;Hi ,Jitianyin . have you heard the news that three college students were drowned because of saving a drowning boy.

J:Yes ,I got it online. What a pity !

L;I’m quite admire of their courage !

J:By the way，What does the courage mean in your opinion ?

L;Well , courage is the quality of mind that enables one to face danger, difficulty or pain firmly and fearlessly.

J:It ‘s quite a virtue ,but don’t you find that it is in short supply in today’s world ?

L;May be that’s true .In your opinion ,how is courage different from rashness?

J:Well ,courage is not foolish bravery but conquest of fear。do you see yourself as a courageous person ,why or why not ?

L; In my opinion ,a courage person is one who is not afraid of taking risks and willing to stand up for those who are being treated unfairly. As for me ,I ‘m afraid that I ‘m not brave enough to overcome fear.

J: It ‘s quite common that we may admire a person who risks his life for others but may never wish to be such a person ourselves.

L;I quite agree with you . Do you think it is necessary for a nonprofessional risking their lives for others?

J: I admire their courage like you do ,but they really don’t have to do that . It’s not their job to save the drawning boy and it is not wise for nonprofessionals to be involved in the rescue effort because they don’t have the training and the

proper equipment. I’m not against heroism ,but I do think we need to be very careful and consider the cost before you act .

L; I agree that we should avoid unnecessary risks, but I would not call the young man’s attempt to save lives an unnecessary risk . When we face the danger,we mustn’t allow calculations of personal gain or loss to stand in the way of others. It is true without training and proper equipment, nonprofessionals may not be effici:ent as trained rescue workers. But their actions demonstrate a sense of responsibility to society and a deep respect for human life .

L:do you have any friends who are left handed ?

J:yes ,I do .my brother are left handed .what’s wrong?

L:recently I read an article which says that left handed people are more intelligent then right handed people ?

J: oh ,really?

L:yes,and there are quite a lot of famous people who are left handed .

J: can you name some of them?

L: of course ,Einstein, Beethoven, Davinci , Picassa ,Mark twain and so on >

J:since the majority of people in the world are right handed ,are there something that left handed people find them difficult to do ?

L: left handed people may find it difficult to use scissors and tie shoelaces because they are designed for right handed people ,what’s more they may get confused about the directions left and right .

J: from my point of view ,every coin has two sides.and left handed people have both advantages and disadvantages.

L: yes ,according to scientific studies ,left handed people can be good at sports and solving problems .besides ,quite a few left handed people seem to do well in creative professions,such as music ,art and writing.

J: then ,what might have caused people ,to be left handed or right handed.

L: left handedness may pass down from parents to children .

MARRIAGE

Hi ,luyao .I’v heard that you had got a hasty marriage last night.

How do you know that ?Yes ,but just in a computer game .

Congratulations ! What do you think of a marrage?

In my humble opinion .marriage is one of the most important thing in one’s life .

Yeah ,and what kind of person do you want to marry?Do you want to marry a rich person?

Of couser,I think it is very nature for yong person to give first priority to economic status in chooing a spouse. We all know how important money is in a marriage. Even though the couple may have married for love..if they have a lack of money ,love will soon be replace by quarrels and endless worries over money matters. So when you meet a person who are rich and love you at the same time ,why not ?

I cannot agree with you . A happy marriage is built on a deep love and affection between husband and wife,which can not bought by money. As for me , I would like to consider temperament and character of great importance in choosing a life companion . If the couple want to be in tune with each other ,both sides mentioned above are quite important .

May be you are right .but we all know that differences between husband and wife are unavoidable, So when it comes to you ,what would you do ?

Well ,each individual is unique ,it is very important for husband and wife to show appreciation of each other and respect each other .

L:hey,did you going back to your hometown to see your parents last National Day?

J: no ,I don’t think it’s wise to break the continuity of our studying for a whole week ,in that the new semester has only started.

L:don’t you miss them ? Going home won’t interfere with your study ! you can certainly take some books with you .

J: Of course yes .they give me the greatest love in the world! But the trip home is costly. It’ll be an extra burden for them . besides ,you can call or write to your parent instead,whenever you miss them.

L: But if we plan early,we’ll be able to earn the money for the trip by taking some part time jobs . remember ,life is short and our parents are getting on in years .and a visit is worth a thousand phone calls.

J: maybe you are right ,we’ll talking of parents,do you always remember your parents’ birthdays?

L: sure ,I take them as serious as my birthday. I usually buy them some gifts with my pocket money .

J: well ,I always want to do something creative to try to express my love for them , by the way ,is there a generation gap between you and your parents?

L: they sometimes don’t see eye to eye with me ,but we never let our arguments hurt our feelings for each other ,we just sit down and talk to resolve differences.

J：From my point of view, the future belongs to us young people .so we must prepare ourselves from now on .Of course ,we should give first priority to study. Besides ,we can involving ourselves in meaningful causes. What’s more ,building up a healthy body is also very important.

L:Well, we must make ourselves better not only for ourselves but also for the society.

J:By the way ,what qualities do you value most in a young person?

L:Commitment sensitivity ,commitment and being a team player are qualities I value most in a young person.

J :then have you ever participated in any projects when you were at high school?

L:I often volunteering my time to a local charity which helps those who are in need.

J:oh ,you are such a kind person! I have heared that an international conference is going to be held in our school. And they are looking for the volunteers.

L: oh really ? I’d like to be a volunteer for the international conference . I believe that I”ll be able to learn many new things that I can’t learn from books . Meanwhile ,the voluntary work will enables me to put what I’ve learned into practice.

J: I can’t agree with your opinion. It is improper for college students to be volunteers for the preparation and day to day work of an international conference. Our main task is to study .if we go and do voluntary work for such a conference, we will have to miss chasses, or fail to do our assignments.

L: Every coin has two sides.

J:well maybe you are right ! what should we do when we’re young .

L: As far as I’m concerned,youth is the golden age of a person’s life .we should work together to make the world a place where people can live in peace .
